Why am I always dreaming about stairs, hallways, and doors?
I am a vivid dreamer and almost always remember my dreams, and I guess roughly 50% of my dreams revolve around stairs, hallways, and doors, and these dreams are always frustrating or scary. Usually these dreams are also in black and white, and my other dreams are in color, although once I had a frustrating dream about a hotel full of hallways, and it was in vivid color (but the colors reminded me of clowns, which are frightening), and there were lots of staircases (I was trying to escape), but each staircase was a dead end and I couldn’t get out. At times it was frightening, but most times, only frustrating.
Other dreams I have on the subject usually show the hallways and staircases as being dark and dingy, sometimes dilapidated also. Usually the lower levels are safe and the danger lies upstairs, so I never want to go upstairs, but somehow I always do.
These dreams have puzzled me for a long time, and it would be great if you had any ideas on what they could mean. I can usually figure out others’ dreams, but my own puzzle me to death. : )
