well i was looking at the lyrics and it made me want to cry. it does sound like it is talking about a teenager who seemed happy, but deep inside he was feeling something different. hiding true feelings and he commited suicide. The lyrics sort of do explain. "God only knows why you’d leave the stage in the middle of a song" and also "Who tols you life wasn’t worth the fight? They were wrong, they lied and now you’re gone."

It is about suicide. At the beginning they sing "You must have been in a place so dark- You couldn’t feel the light- Reaching for you through that stormy cloud" This, to me, says that the person committed suicide. And this part, "Was there anything i could have said or done
Oh I had no clue you were masking a troubled soul" makes me feel that they were asking that person if there is anything they could have done to keep them alive.
