What can the public do, to get a Judge thrown off the bench? This Judge should be removed?
Judge Julian Hall. He lets the sickest child sex attackers off. Maybe he thinks liking children is ok?

1999: Following the decision to drop a rape case, Judge Julian Hall has these wise words: "I think they brought the prosecution on themselves. if six men think it a good idea to have sex with one woman, they run the risk of being accused of rape." Compare this to his words in 2008 on sending a false victim to jail.

October 2004: Judge Julian Hall throws out a historical abuse case despite numerous witnesses, describing it as "stale". He also says of the offenders: "I think the best thing that should happen to people who behave in this way, is that they should get a very brisk elbow in the ribs at the time or be rejected." Perhaps Julian could give advisory talks to children in nursery schools on how best to deliver this elbow.

January 2005: A priest convicted of child porn is spared jail and the Judge concludes, "It is difficult to imagine a more admirable and productive life."

August 2005: No prison for a boy who sexually assaulted several elderly and vulnerable women, including an 84yr old. Apparently it wouldn’t have been "productive".

February 2006: A community order for a man who had sex with a 13yr old. Apparently he "should have known better".

March 2006: Two years for a man who falsely imprisoned and assaulted a woman, and let’s not forget the two charges of rape that were tagged onto this one.

September 2006: Judge Julian Hall breaks down in tears at the plight of Dr Margaret Davison, then sentences the driver who killed her to four years.

December 2006: The Judge jails a sex attacker for just three years for six offences (unspecified), and describes him as, "…a star in your world. It is quite clear that you have made a most positive contribution to the lives of many children…"

February 2007: A paedophile is fined ?250 and told to buy his six-year-old victim a "new bicycle" to "cheer her up". To put this one in context, the offender was interrupted before he could do anything worse to his victim, and was previously jailed for sex attacks on children. Despite this, in Julian Hall’s eyes the offence was "mild".

August 2007: Life sentence given out to a truly vicious sex attacker, with a nine year minimum. Perhaps the videos produced in this case tugged at Julian’s heart-strings, because his reaction is a bit different to that in some of his other paedophile cases, for example…

August 2007: Two years for a child rapist because she "dressed provocatively". How provocative can a 10yr old really be?

November 2007: Jules gives a man in possession of Level 5 child porn (the worst level) a conditional discharge. I have mixed feelings about the fairness of this one – but either way the Judge certainly seems to have accepted the man’s claim that it was accidental.

March 2008: He gives a non-custodial sentence to a 17yr old child abuser, stating he is "not dangerous".

March 2008: He jails a woman for a year who lied about a rape allegation. He also denounces her as "evil" and says she has let down "womankind". Slightly different language than that used to describe the child rapists and pornographers he has discharged from his court on previous occasions, no?

In the interests of fairness, I should point out that Judge Julian Hall has also handed out some healthy sentences, but these are all for murder or GBH – apart from the truly horrific case above, I could not find one where he gave any sensible remarks or sentences to sex attackers.
Judges have to follow strict sentencing guidelines? if that is the case why is a few of his cases going to the courts of appeal?

no this isnt from the press. Type in Julian Hall and a lot of the public are angry and wont him removed

I’m pretty sure, although I stand to be corrected, that in Britain once elevated to the position of High Court Judge the only person who can remove you is the reigning Monarch.
Even the Primeminister cannot sack you.

 | Feb 01, 2010

You do realise that Judges have to follow strict sentencing guidelines and they have little or no power to set sentences outside these guidlelines. Secondly, where did you get your info?? The popular press?? Those reliable and non reactionary papers like the Daily Mail who don’t at anytime exaggerate?

Judges are subject to judicial scrutiny, if you have any real evidence of judicial misconduct, why don’t you write off to the law lords and get him removed? If you don’t have any I suggest that you stop reading the right wing press.
wensleydale | Feb 01, 2010

Maybe Judges should be elected as they are in the USA.

Then they might take their responsibility to the public a bit more seriously.
Mark B | Feb 01, 2010

I remember the 10 year old case. I never new there was this many. Any judge that says a 10 year old brings sex upon herself because of the way she acts and dresses should be removed!! When I was ten I use to wear my mum bra and stuff it and walk around the house in her heels… was I asking for sex then?? its stupid!
XxLeannexX | Feb 01, 2010

You forgot the one where two illegal immagrants raped a girl and they were a loud to stay in this country as they werent a risk to the public. I know that victim and her family and that has to be worst outcome ever!!

Judge Julian Hall is a pervert himself and thats why he lets those creeps off!!
xxNaomixx | Feb 01, 2010

Only a person who is an accused can have a judge removed. He can make an application to the judge stating the reasons he thinks that particular judge should not hear his case and requesting that he excuse himself from the case. If the grounds are valid the judge should remove himself otherwise it would be a good ground for an appeal.
Naushad | Feb 01, 2010

You write to the Justice Secretary Jack Straw and the Lord Chief Justice – Judge Judge – yes his name is actually JUDGE !!! But get your facts right – as has been said a judge works within sentencing guidelines and it is near impossible to sack a Judge – but there is an election coming very soon so this may be as good a time as any to make your representations.
finglas9 | Feb 01, 2010

A simple answer – the Public can do nothing whatsoever.
In this racially-charged climate, the LAPD’s elite Special Investigations Squad (SIS) is assigned a high-profile quadruple homicide. As they work the case, veteran detective Eldon Perry, known for his tough street tactics and fiery temper, tutors SIS rookie Bobby Keough in the grim realities of police intimidation and corruption. Meanwhile, Assistant Chief Holland, the only man in the department willing to stand up to the SIS, threatens to end Perry’s brand of singlehanded “justice” on the Los Angeles streets. While navigating through the tumultuous neighborhoods of South Central L.A., Perry and Keough must track down cold-blooded killers and face their own demons, which prove to be more ruthless than the criminals they pursue.

I have to write a personal essay. What topic would be most interesting to read about?
It has to be about a life-changing event or time in my life. It has to be 10 pages long. I’m only 18 so my stories are limited, but i’ve had a few really great ones.

1) my connections to New Mexico—befriending a boy who I almost fell in love with, went against the tribal rules by riding the horses on sacred land, me getting seriously lost when on a moonlight walk in the mountains, days spent swimming in the river, the sun, when i met his grandfather he said "you are white indian"

2) when my dad died unexpectedly when I was 15… we were spending quality time together that weekend, I had slept in and I ran down the stairs in pajamas when a stranger rang the doorbell. my dad died when going for a jog in the morning, had a heart failure and slipped on the ice. the rest of the story consists of me being alone in the big, colonial house made specifically to look like the house of my dad’s childhood…that night none of my siblings could make it in time…something compelled me to go down the stairs. And in the room that was the creepiest to me I thought i saw my grandmother’s ghost next to the fireplace my dad loved and was an exact replica of his childhood one. My grandmother (who I never met in real life, my dad loved with all his heart, and I look exactly like her) said to me "It’s a nice fireplace". She then went over to the piano that was hers (I’ve been playing it since I was 6) and said "He was most happy when you would play, when the music flooded the house." She then disappeared. That was the last night I spent in that house–I loved it so much. I spent the rest of the evening rotating throughout the rooms and thinking of all the memories in each one. But I never went into my dad’s room again. I fell asleep on the ground in my room, cieling fan running and listening to the storm outside. I moved across the country to live with my mom a few days after that. I really got into piano because of seeing my grandmother, and to make my dad happy

3) I went to Kauai one time with my best friend. Earth science is one of my passions. I scored a free helicopter ride from a young guy there (when usually its really expensive and for tourists). It was supposed to be an hour long, but we were so engrossed in our conversation and our connection with the sciences, he showed me all around the island and for an extra two hours! The next time he flew a few days later he was by himself and he happened to crash. Know one is sure why, but perhaps it was suicide. It was really shocking to me knowing that I was one of the last people he opened himself up to. The story would go to show the importance of when someone opens up to you and shares their stories, how you should take it to heart.

4) when i fell off a cliff. the story would describe the importance of what goes through someone’s mind when you are hanging by roots above the ocean. Why i decided to call my best friend (who lives 2,000 miles away) first….then my phone died in my hysteria, I had no chance to call anyone for help or 911. I saw eagles mating in the sky then and boats go by but they couldn’t see me.
well at first I tried climbing back up, but the roots of the blackberry bushes were too weak and I had broken many bones. I tried maneuvering down, but I almost seriously fell again. My best friend actually called 911 for me because the phone had cut off. the fire department came, but I was at least a 100 feet from the top, they tried sending a rope ladder down but I couldn’t climb with broken bones. they had a helicopter come and the guy on the rope grabbed on to me. they lowered me onto the boat in the water below. crazy huh???

You folks have no right to talk unless you are a native?
To all the comments about how natives got their land taken. First Off I am Indian (native American) and I am proud. If you have paid attention in school then you would know that yes, British and French did come hear and take the land, but the natives joined forces with the French and British side after being defeated by them. we natives fought for our land and fought damn hard and we lost. We took our loss with honor and excepted the new ways (well most of us) You should watch "Last of the Dogmen" It tells about what really happened. there were plenty of white folks who joined the native culture as well. You say that British and French fought unjustly. They did not abide by the laws of war, neither side did. In fact the most brutal thing that the whites did was at the battle of wounded knee. Don

What score on the pretreatment RCMAS would correspond to an extremely low score? For example, would you expect less than five percent of the population to score this low?

Can someone tell me how to find the Z scores on the scale I used? I would appreciate all the advice and help and if someone can suggest another another way to do this please let me know! God Bless and Thanks so much

you can’t do what your trying to do because you have too many qualitative variables…we need to use only quantitative. First things first..Z score is a projection of an individual piece of data and its position against the rest of the data through the measurement of standard deviation. Z= X – (population mean)/ standard deviation
didi o | Feb 07, 2010

Normally you would write that you are unable to draw any conclusions because of such a small sample size. Usually you wouldn’t percede with less the 10 data points unless the teacher specifide otherwise, because with such a small data amount you can not expect it to reflect anything on to the population.

If your talking about the population within the study. I would seperate them into groups of scores, 10s with 10s, 2s with 2s. And then calculate the percentage for each group. 0 as low, 10 as high.

But I still think this problem should be thrown out for its lack of solid data.

does my story sound too similiar to this story?
do you know the book,
"i tell you i love you but then have to kill you? its about spies and what not. well i am writing a spy book. and dspite it being my orginal idea i am afraid people with associate it with that book. here’s a brief description of my book and you can decide.

Charleigh(girl) and Simon Fylnn’s life gets turned around it about a second when they are called to the office and told their parents are dead and sent off to their evil aunt Matilda’s house. once there the Fylnn children are treated like dog crap.. and then they are sent off to a country side school outside London. when they get their they realize their life has been a lie. their parents are spies which makes them spies and not only that they were famous spies. Charleigh and Simon really don’ t know what to expect of their life now. plus on top of all that a murder has occured and Charleigh and her brother are placed in the middle of it. put on top of all that. Handsome Henry,, has a crush on Charleigh and of course there’s the jealous girlfriend involved. put all together and Charleigh Fylnn’s life is not NORMAL
its a little different in the book cause i started it. but please help me out!!!!!!!

Their parents are spies so they are too? Or are you trying to say that they are considered spies because of information and secrets that they might have had access to? Spies for who? KGB, CIA?

Concentrate your writing on Charleigh and Simon proving themselves. (what ever you want them to be) Can you imagine two teens being "spies"? How could any agency justify that? If you can imagine it, create it.
So the first thing is a complete description of just who they are. A complete description should give you some ideas as to where they go from here. Don’t for get to include any form of military, history, and geography training that will help them. I have been told that the CIA looks for college students with a strong geography background so they can fit in where they are sent.
You included Aunt Matilda. What effect does she have on them? Describer her so we can imagine what she looks like and how she acts. Same for Harry.
You make Harry sound brain dead. Is he a help or a hindrance? What is his background? Hunting, fishing and tracking? to make him useful when they are being chased by the bad guys? Secondary characters are either a help or a hindrance.
A murder at the beginning? Make it an important character to make the reader curious as to how they will survive with out that character.

I can see a collection of short stories.

I am looking for a name of a film based on the hit 'Cruel Intentions',,, ,,?

Cruel Intentions is a modern remake of the film "Dangerous Liaisons" which was made back in the 1980s, with John Malkovic, Uma Thurman, Michelle Pfeiffer, Keanu Reeves & Glenn Close. Dangerous Liaisons is the film of the book "Les Liaisons dangereuses". (Cant remember the author.)

If you liked cruel intentions you should definitely watch D Liaisons because it is FAR superior to it, you will see that Ryan Philippe totally copied John Malkovich in the role of Valmont, he could have at least come up with his own style of speaking!

Well shucks honey, we’ll get right on that for you. NOT!

Just read the book. As you find a piece that fits each character, pick it out and write it down.

EDIT: Well, if you HAVE read the book, it should be a piece of cake to do your own homework! Just skim over it and look for appropriate passages.
