Will the Wachovia Center still be named the Wachovia Center or will the name be changed after the merger ?
I think Citigroup took over Wachovia so would it be called the Citi Center or something ?
Well, when Verizon bought out MCI, the MCI Center in Chinatown, DC became the Verizon Center. Same thing when TD Banknorth bought out Fleet a few years ago, and the Fleet Center of Boston became the TD Banknorth Garden because of the change. Even the Wachovia Center has changed names because of mergers. First Union Bank bought out Wachovia several years ago and took on the Wachovia name, and that naturally changed the name of the First Union Center in Philly to what it is now.
Wachovia isn’t completely bought out though. It’s just the normal retail banking that has been bought out. The investment divisions of AG Edwards still are Wachovia’s, so it may be the Citi Center or it may still be Wachovia.

At some point, I’m sure the naming rights would change. Whether Citigroup keeps it or not, no one knows.
